A "gazelle company" is a rapidly growing and successful enterprise that has experienced swift growth over a short period. We received 3 awards for rapid growth between 2021 and 2023.
For the third consecutive year, JM Robotics has been awarded the Gazelle Prize and received the prestigious diploma confirming strong progress. We surpassed 20 employees and have now delivered approximately 300 ROVs nationally and internationally. 2023 was also the year we moved to new place in Melkvika Business Park and completed software that simplifies the execution, workflow, and documentation of ROV inspections called JM Connect.
In 2024, we started the year with an exciting initiative. We dedicated a significant portion of the team to a full month of development. This is to ensure we can deliver even higher quality and ensure that the latest technology on the market is made available to our customers.
JM Robotics Year by Year
It all started in 2016 when two weathered professionals with long experience in ROVs, offshore operations and commercial diving founded JM Robotics. A lot has happened since then. This is our story:

It begins in a garage
The company is founded by Johan Hellstrøm and Magnus Kjelland-Olsen, and the first ROVs are built in Kristiansund. -
Our first customer
Delivery of the very first ROV system to the Norwegian oil industry. -
A growing company
Significant increase in production and sales to the aquaculture industry, including deliveries to one of the country’s largest operators. -
We start hiring
The first two employees join the company, focusing on software and product development. -
Gazelle company
Awarded the Gazelle Diploma by Dagens Næringsliv for strong growth. -
100% local
First ROV system delivered with fully local production to aquaculture operations in Northern Norway. -
Gazelle – again
Named a Gazelle company for the second consecutive year. -
Gazelle – third year in a row
Over 20 employees and approximately 300 ROVs delivered. Relocation to Melkvika Business Park and launch of JM Connect.

Kristiansund boasts a thriving environment within aquaculture and maritime industries, and with our premises at Melkvika Business Park, we become a part of the maritime hub in the city. Here, we have both workshop and administration located in the same place, ensuring everyone has continuous access to our production.
